Ministry of Mobility promotes E-charging points in residential buildings as part of "eMove Austria" Federal Minister Hanke: "E-mobility must be considered in housing construction"

As part of "eMove Austria", the Ministry of Mobility (BMIMI) has recently launched the funding call for the expansion of E-charging infrastructure in both private and commercial sectors, as well as for the transition to single-track electric vehicles. Nearly 30 million euros are available for this purpose this year.

The focus is particularly on charging points in residential construction, so-called wall charging stations or "wallboxes". These are crucial to make e-mobility more accessible in the private sector. The housing cooperative "Wien-Süd" is one of the largest recipients of subsidies for wallboxes: since last year, 25 units have been installed, and 75 more are to follow.

Minister of Mobility Peter Hanke: "E-mobility must be accessible and practical. Therefore, the ability to charge your electric vehicle conveniently at home is all the more important. That’s why I clearly state: E-mobility must be considered in housing construction. Only by further expanding the charging infrastructure throughout Austria, both publicly and privately, can we achieve the decarbonisation of transport and our major goal of the mobility transition. With our programme eMove Austria, we offer the right funding model for every aspect of e-mobility – that's responsible transformation."
Andreas Weikhart, Chairman of "Wien-Süd", welcomes the funding model and emphasises the importance of e-mobility in "Wien-Süd": "E-mobility is a relevant contribution to emissions reduction, and the establishment of charging points is now also quite feasible in multi-storey residential buildings."
