Minister of Mobility Hanke: “ÖBB tariff adjustment significantly beyond inflation would be unacceptable” Hanke expects more prudence in the interest of passengers

Today's ÖBB announcement to raise ticket prices by more than four percent has been firmly rejected by Minister of Mobility Peter Hanke. The aim of the federal government is to curb inflation. This includes judicious tariff adjustments, and the reported increase contradicts the government's efforts.

Peter Hanke: “The ÖBB's announcements today regarding ticket prices can only be explained by a misunderstanding from my perspective. A tariff adjustment significantly above inflation would be unacceptable. The federal government is committed to fighting rising prices. Therefore, fuelling inflation through excessive tariff adjustment at the Austrian Federal Railways is out of the question. I expect more prudence in the interest of passengers.”
