BMIMI supports SME in the step from research to the market Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) programme "Market.Entry" supports with up to 120,000 Euros

The funding is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have completed a successful FFG project in the last twelve months and now want to bring the finished prototype to the market.

“Austria is a country with high innovative power: This year's European Innovation Scoreboard of the EU Commission confirms our country as a ‘Strong Innovator’. The domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) with their great wealth of ideas contribute significantly to this pleasing result. In order to support small and medium-sized enterprises to make the crucial step from research to the market and to bring their ideas into exploitation, we are now launching ‘Market.Entry’ as a new, targeted funding channel,” said Innovation Minister Peter Hanke.

The Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI) together with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG provide around 5 million Euros annually. The aim of “Market.Entry” is to accelerate the utilization of marketable prototypes, mitigate market risks, and thereby sustainably strengthen the competitiveness and innovative power of the location Austria. Through FFG, small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) can receive a non-repayable grant of up to 80,000 Euros. Women-led companies and projects in the field of social innovation benefit from a funding rate of 60 percent and can receive up to 120,000 Euros.

“'Market.Entry' is an essential step in the value creation funding chain of FFG – from the idea through development to successful exploitation. We facilitate SMEs with an uncomplicated grant access to the market, create new opportunities especially for women-led companies and also specifically promote social innovations,” says Karin Tausz, Managing Director of FFG.
“'The Market.Entry programme' represents in my view the last puzzle piece of the FFG to best support the founding and innovation landscape from the initial idea to market entry,” says Balcosy Managing Director Florian Holzmayer.

For him, the new funding offer is the right follow-up project to market his innovations, such as the mini balcony for windows.

The funding is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) that have completed a successful FFG project in the last twelve months and now want to bring the finished prototype to the market. Costs supported include:

  • Market analyses and marketing conception
