The ban of plastic bags, plates, drinking straws and other throw-away products made of plastics has been fixed.

    Based on European agreements like the Circular Economy Package and the Plastics Strategy, Member States are to take various efforts to reduce plastic waste and their spread in the Environment.

  • Bye Bye Plastic Bags

    In line with the waste hierarchy, the avoidance of waste has top priority. Plastic carrier bags serve a variety of purposes and will continue to be used in the future. For ecological reasons, however, it is advisable to reduce the number of plastic carrier bags.

  • Plastic bag ban voted through

    On 2 July 2019, the National Council voted to have a plastic bag ban in place by 2020.
